Hockey India has announced a comprehensive revamp of the domestic league structure, introducing two new franchises and an extended 10-week regular season schedule. The expansion is designed to provide greater match exposure for fringe national team prospects and emerging junior champions.
Under the newly ratified guidelines, each squad must field a minimum number of under-21 players during competitive fixtures. International marquee signings will also return, creating a competitive environment where young Indian defenders and forwards can learn from world-class tactical masters.
League administrators confirmed that matches will be staged across world-class turf venues in Rourkela, Bhubaneswar, and Chennai. Broadcast partnerships have been upgraded to bring high-definition coverage to fans nationwide, re-energizing interest in India's national sport.
